PSALM 71:1-11
1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
2 Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness;
turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of evil and cruel men.
5 For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD,
my confidence since my youth.
6 From birth I have relied on you;
you brought me forth from my mother's womb.
I will ever praise you.
7 I have become like a portent to many,
but you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise,
declaring your splendor all day long.
9 Do not cast me away when I am old;
do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
10 For my enemies speak against me;
those who wait to kill me conspire together.
11 They say, "God has forsaken him;
pursue him and seize him,
for no one will rescue him."
When that guy (sorry, his name escapes me right now) came a few weeks ago to give his testimony about doing missions work in China, it really challenged me to hear that there are people in China who crave the Word of God but can't get their hands on a Bible. That people risk going to jail just to worship Him or to publically share their faith. And here I am with all these freedoms that I don't take advantage of.
Today's passage got me thinking about how I've lost some of the fire and passion that I had for God when I was younger and I think I need to get back to a point where I'm depending on God like the way a baby or an old man depends on others.
Jeff - tag, you're it for tomorrow.

I liked this verse. It says to me that we should be like David and know that God can save us with just a command, just as Jesus commanded the centurion to go home to his dying child, and he believed and obeyed and his son was healed.
thanks for sharing chris. makes me think about age not only in a physcial way, but spiritually too. David has so much confidence in God it's amazing. this blog makes me happyyyyyyy! YAY! =)
